AIMS OF THE CLUB
16 Nov 2009

Chairman's Opening Address
Huncoat United Junior Football Club was formed in 1984 with the simple aims and objectives being (a) to provide regular organised football for the boys of the area and (b) to foster and encourage good sportsmanship amongst its members. Since that time the Club has continually grown and now provides regular football for approximately 160 boys aged 5 to 16, every weekend.

Despite this continued growth the club has retained its admirable aims by providing a safe and friendly environment for the players to enjoy their football in the best traditions of Sportsmanship.

I firmly believe that by encouraging the boys to play in a relaxed manner, without the pressure of "the win at all costs mentality" this has resulted in the Club winning over 200 honours in its history. It is extremely pleasing that 23 of these awards have been for Sportsmanship. It is important to stress the important roles that Ian Birtwell and John Cullen have played in the formation and success of the Club. Without their ambition, determination and enthusiasm this Club could not have been formed.

Finally, may I thank all those people, to numerous to mention, who have shared the Club's fine ideas and have contributed countless hours to the cause of Junior Football and in particular, for helping to make Huncoat United Junior Football such a success.
